The Sacramento Suburban Writers will meet Wednesday, January 16, 2002, from 7:00PM to 9:00PM at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 4706 Arden Way (at the corner of Mission Avenue) in Carmichael.
Ms. Nan Mahon, author and columnist with the Elk Grove Citizen will be our speaker. Ms. Mahon was the the lead Lifestyle writer for the Elk Grove Citizen and held that position for 10 years. While there, she won the statewide award for Best Feature Story at the California Newspaper Publishers Association conference. Through the years she has won other awards as a team with her fellow Citizen reporters and individually. Leaving the Citizen two months ago, Nan is currently on staff at Senior Magazine and plans to freelance. Her novel, Pink Pearls and Irish Whiskey, will be released in the spring.
Nan is a commissioner for the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission (SMAC),
a member of the board of directors for Friends of the Library and Consumnes
River College River Stage. She is a member of the South Sacramento Literary
